How to get there
Blue Notes: Standards & Survival is a theatrical jazz concert that blends music, storytelling, and history into an immersive stage experience. Vocalist and actress Marlo Vashti leads audiences through the Civil Rights era in a dynamic one-woman show, accompanied by a live jazz band. Embodying the artistry, legacies, and perspectives of Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday, audiences will watch her transform into these iconic women in history. The performance weave jazz standards with theatrical storytelling, creating a powerful and engaging production that celebrates Black resilience, artistry, and cultural impact.
This project is presented in partnership with Fantasy Theatre Factory at the Sandrell Rivers Theater and it is made possible with support from The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor, and Board of County Commissioners.
