Neighborhood pARTners: Surviving & Thriving in the Face of Funding Threats
Sandrell Rivers Theater
Miami, FL 33127
How to get there
Miami's arts community has a lot to figure out. We shouldn't have to do it alone.
Artists and cultural organizations across Miami-Dade are facing serious questions about the future of public funding, artistic expression, and cultural programming.
What do we know? What is still uncertain? And what can we do together that we can't do alone?
Join Fantasy Theatre Factory and the Marshall L. Davis, Sr. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center for the first gathering of Neighborhood pARTners, bringing together artists, arts administrators, cultural organizations, educators, and community leaders to share information, exchange resources, and explore practical ways to support one another.
Participants will take part in small-group discussions, share successes and challenges, learn from one another, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
The evening will also feature a conversation with three special guests:
- Beth Boone — Executive Director of Miami Light Project and a leader in the Miami Cultural Coalition, bringing her experience in arts advocacy and community organizing.
- Professor Caroline Mala Corbin — Professor of Law and Dean's Distinguished Scholar at the University of Miami, sharing her expertise in First Amendment rights, freedom of expression, and constitutional law.
- Dr. Maria Ilcheva — Associate Director and Research Professor at FIU's Jorge M. Pérez Metropolitan Center, examining what available data tells us about Miami-Dade's arts organizations and what information we still need.
Together, we'll explore the challenges facing our cultural community, what we can learn from the experiences and expertise in the room, and what steps we can begin taking together.
Come ready to share, ask questions, meet people, and help shape what happens next.
